Regional Staff Changes
Regional Staff Changes

At the regional conference in January, it was announced that Ronnie Franklin was stepping down as our regional missions coordinator. Ronnie serves as the national vice-president of the Royal Rangers Alumni, and in March he was appointed to serve as the Royal Rangers national field advisor for disaster services. He knew that these positions would not leave him time to also serve as our regional missions coordinator.

At the end of the conference, Bart Garrison informed me that his new career as owner of his own insurance agency would make it impossible for him to continue as our regional training coordinator. He will continue to serve as the deputy district commander for the New Mexico district.

Finally, in March Mark Oliver informed me that he needed to step down from the regional staff. He had been serving as our regional public relations coordinator.

All three of these commanders will be missed. Their service to the boys and leaders of our region is greatly appreciated. I personally have appreciated the dedicated service that each of these leaders has given to the Royal Rangers of the South Central Region.

Each of these individuals is impossible to “replace,” but we do have three new staff members to announce for these positions.

Regional Missions Coordinator. Randy Woods has served in various sectional and district leadership roles over the years in the North Texas district. He currently serves as deputy district commander and district missions coordinator. He has agreed to serve as our regional missions coordinator. In this role, he will help promote missions opportunities for leaders and boys.

Regional Training Coordinator. Trey Mitchell, the South Texas district training coordinator, has agreed to serve as our regional training coordinator. In this new role he will be responsible for coordinating national training within our region (including IT seminars), and for helping to plan and conduct the annual regional conference. He has already started planning our 2007 regional conference that is scheduled for January 26-27 at Christ Church A/G in Ft. Worth, Texas. Additional plans will be announced on our regional web site.

Regional Public Relations Coordinator. Ted Schmidt, Jr., the New Mexico district FCF president, has agreed to serve as our regional public relations coordinator. In this role he will be responsible for promoting the various regional activities, maintaining our web site and our e-mail list, and publishing the Bugle Call newsletter.

Please join with me in welcoming these new members of the regional staff, and in thanking those who have served in these positions.

Jonathan Trower
Regional Coordinator
